Christine Smith-Davis, BA, MS, LSW is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Indiana. For over 25 years, Chris served as the founder and CEO of Davis & Associates Consulting Services, Inc., a private practice Case Management agency serving hundreds of older adults, veterans, individuals with developmental disabilities and persons diagnosed with other disabling conditions. Chris holds a Master’s of Science degree in Rehabilitation Administration and Services from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Her education also includes Pre-doctoral coursework at Indiana University Purdue University (IUPUI) in the School of Social Work with a primary focus on Geriatrics.
Chris’ expertise in Case Management has been demonstrated in the private sector through presentations locally (church groups) and at IUPUI symposiums sponsored by the School of Social Work. Internationally, she has accompanied a “ Managed Healthcare Delegation “ to South Africa to share her knowledge of Independent living services at the University of Pretoria in Pretoria, South Africa.
Chris past professional experience also includes working with Veterans through the
Department of Veterans Affairs Rehabilitation Assistance and Independent living Programs. She also worked as an Independent Medicaid Waiver Case Manager under the auspices of Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration. In addition to past career endeavors, she is an elite Senior track and field athlete / sprinter with All American records set in the 50 meters and the 100 meters. Chris has also participated in International Track and Field competitions in Melbourne, Australia earning her a ranking of 8th in the world in the 100 meters for Masters track athletes. For Chris, the Self-Directed Caregiving Guide represents an accumulation of professional experiences that evolved over the years into a concise, educational compendium for caregivers. The guide is arranged in a systematic fashion to educate not only caregivers but others in the general population to help them in their quest to provide the best quality of care for their loved ones. Chris is excited about sharing her knowledge of how to support a loved one while simultaneously enjoying the benefits of spending quality, productive time with significant people in one’s life. Chris’ inspirational message to caregivers is to “embrace caregiving and enjoy the journey!”
